  31.   The problem is that wothout specialized equipment, who knows what service
  32.   you are indeed getting.

  34.   I've heard of customers complaining that their 14.400 Baud modems don't
  35.   work.  The phone company replies that they only support 2,400 Baud
  36.   modems (they are correct).  The customer made the wrong complaint.
  37.   The phone company, to be generous, played back the part line.  The truth
  38.   is that the phone system will usually exceed 2,400Baud and thus 28.8K
  39.   and even 33.6K is possible.

  41.   My problem is a bit different.  They're doubling the maximum telephone
  42.   rates here ($30 and change to $50 and a lot of change per month), so
  43.   instead of thinking about a secong line for the computer, I may go to
  44.   off-line mail and news feeds.
